2012 NBA standings: Thunder sit atop the Northwest Divison

Oklahoma City currently sits fourth in the conference standings as well.

It was a rough evening for the Oklahoma City Thunder against the Memphis Grizzles in their 107-97 loss. Despite getting 34 points and 10 rebounds from Kevin Durant, the Thunder couldn't overcome an 11-point halftime deficit produced by the Grizzles outscoring them 36-15 in the second quarter.

Even though the Thunder chalked one up in the loss column, they're still sitting on top of the Northwest Division at 6-3 but are just a ? game ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves at 5-3 on the season. The Thunder are the leaders of the tightest division in the NBA with the last place Portland Trail Blzaers sitting just 2? games back.

If the season were to end today, the Thunder wouldn't find themselves in as favorable a spot when it comes to the playoffs. They're currently sitting at fourth in the Western Conference and would actually play the Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs. The Northwest division's third place team, the Denver Nuggets, are currently in the seventh spot.
